My name is Megan Loving and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of TN and VA. I have more than a decade of mental health experience across Northeast TN and Southwest VA. As a counselor, my personal philosophy is to be a supportive facilitator that guides you on your journey through whatever issues you have previously or are currently facing in life. I'm highly motivated and patient focused; I'm a trauma-informed EMDR Therapist. Whether issues arising are relational, historic, current, abuse, or just seeking to uncover why you react the way you do to life situations, I love getting to help you work up the courage and coping skills to feel comfortable addressing the difficult things that life brings in order to help you heal and be the best version of you.
Work Hours: M-F 8AM-3PM. Last appointment begins at 2PM. Megan can provide an excuse for kids who have to miss school for appointments and these are regularly accepted by schools without issue. Megan does NOT provide after school appointments so she can pick up her own children and be present for her family.
Preferred Populations: Megan's preferred population is clients with trauma and she is open to working with clients across the lifespan. Megan has done advanced EMDR training in the areas of dissociation, Ego States, Attachment-Focused EMDR, Transgenerational Trauma, Preverbal Trauma, EMDR with kids, and recent trainings on dealing with perpetrator introjects (fancy terminology for when kids or adults have internalized aspects of their abuser). Megan enjoys working with clients who struggle with substance abuse and the underlying trauma that often feeds it. Megan has worked with kids as young as 2 historically. Megan prefers to work with children in-person and when taking on child clients, Megan prefers to involve parents in that process since working with kids requires that we work with the systems they operate in relationally as well. This might mean that in order to work with your child, Megan might request that you as a parent begin your own individual therapy or there could be sessions requested with just the parent in order to better serve your child. Megan would begin to consider telehealth appointments for ages 14+.
